Visas for Missionaries - Temporary Visa Vitem VII

NOTICE TO VISA APPLICANTS

Requests for temporary visas for Missionaries will be processed by the Brazilian Consulate General in San Francisco provided the Religious Institution and the candidate present the documents indicated below:

A - RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION
A.1. A certified copy of the minutes of the Board of Directors General Assembly (Ata de Constituição) that created the institution and authorized its operations in Brazil.
A.2. Legal authorization from Headquarters of the Religious Institution abroad, conferring powers to its representative in Brazil to accept the conditions under which said Institution will be allowed to function in the country (comprovante de poderes de representação legal de seu dirigente).
A.3. A document, "Escritura de Compromisso de Manutenção", drawn up at a Brazilian Notary Public ("Cartório"), stating that the Religious Institution will be financially responsible for the Missionary's permanence in Brazil.
The documents indicated on items A.1 and A.2 should be:
a) authenticated at a Notary Public at the city where they were issued;
b) legalized at the nearest Brazilian Consulate;
c) translated into Portuguese in Brazil, by a sworn Brazilian public translator.
B - MISSIONARY
B.1. School transcript of theology studies undertaken at a University
B.2. Copy of University diploma
B.3. Curriculum-vitae
B.4. Marriage certificate when married and children birth certificates, if they are also moving to Brazil
B.5. Proof of residence in the jurisdiction of the Consulate for at least one year.
B.6. Non-criminal record statement, issued by the Police Department of the city of residence of the candidate and his/her spouse, when applicable.
B.7. Certified copies (at a Notary Public) of all pages of the candidate's passport (and of other members of his/her family).
Notes:
1. All documents indicated on items b.1, b.2, b.3, b.4 must be presented in its original form (legalized by the Brazilian Consulate of the jurisdiction where the document was issued) OR photocopies authenticated by a Notary Public in the city where they were issued and legalized at the nearest Brazilian Consulate. There is a consular fee of $20.00 for the authentication of a notary public signature.
2. Candidates must wait for at least one week before we can advise them whether the visa has been granted.
3. Visa fee: $ 70.00. There is an additional $ 20.00 fee for a visa request not presented by the applicant in person. Payments must be in U.S. Postal money order made out to the Consulate General of Brazil. Personal checks and cash will not be accepted.
4. In addition to the amounts indicated above, a non-refundable processing fee of $ 150.00 will be charged to all US passport holders in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a visa to the USA. Payment must be in U.S. Postal money order made out to the Consulate General of Brazil. Personal checks and cash will not be accepted.
5. The International Immunization Certificate against yellow fever will only be required from international travelers coming from countries which pose a risk of international dissemination. Currently there are no countries posing such risk. (Please see FAQ 1402 at www.anvisa.gov.br). Nevertheless, yellow fever vaccination is recommended if applicant intends to visit one of the following regions in Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins.
6. Visa applicants must set up an individual appointment to deliver the visa applications previously filled out online.  The scheduling page offers you options of dates and time slots.
