NOTICE TO VISA APPLICANTS
(Please click here)

An artist or an athlete participating in artistic or sport events in Brazil without a contract and without receiving payment for services rendered (air ticket, lodging and basic living expenses excluded) may be issued a short-time tourist visa. Visas may be obtained in person or through a visa service/visa agency. In addition to meeting the requirements for a tourist visa, the artist or athlete must present a letter from the sponsoring party in Brazil stating the non-commercial nature of the event and that no payment for services rendered will be received.

For artists or athletes performing professionally, with a contract and receiving payment for services rendered, the sponsoring party must submit the application for a special kind of visa (Temporary Visa III) to the competent authorities in Brazil.

Documents required (the Consular Officer processing the visa can ask for additional documents when deemed necessary):

1)   One (1) Visa Application Form per applicant, completely filled out online, dated and signed by the passport holder. The application form is found at https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/. (You will need to print only the receipt page, with the bar code, where you will affix the picture and the signature). Please disregard the error message about the website's security certificate: it IS a secure site.

2)   A valid passport - original – with the expiration date at least six months after the intended date of arrival in Brazil, and with at least one blank page available for the visa stamp;

3)   One photograph, passport size, color, front view, no head cover, off-white plain background, taken within the last six months.  Snapshots, copies and computer photos will not be accepted;

4)   Approval from the Ministry of Labor;

5)   Visa fee: US$40.00; payable in US Postal Money Order only;

6)   Regardless of nationality, a $20.00 processing fee will be charged if the application is not presented in person by the passport holder. The fee is waived when parents are applying for their children; children are applying for their parents; and spouses are applying for each other.

7) U.S. citizens must pay a non-refundable $150.00 reciprocity fee (as of June 2010). All consular fees must be paid in U. S. Postal Service money order made to the Consulate General of Brazil. Cash, personal checks, money orders other than the ones issued by the U.S. Postal Service and credit cards are not accepted;

8) For non-Americans: copy of green card or valid re-entry visa into the USA or valid visa to country of final destination (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to their country of citizenship);

9) Visa applicants must set up an individual appointment to deliver the visa applications previously filled out online.  The scheduling page offers you options of dates and time slots. If the desired date and/or slot is not available, select another date and/or time slot. Click here to go to the scheduling page.
