Eletrobrás, in partnership with Itaipu Dam and the
UK (United Nations Industrial Development
Organization) launched the Renewable Energy
Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The goal is to encourage multilateral cooperation
with countries in the region and share best
practices and successful experiences in the use of
renewable energy.
A database of available technologies in the fields
of renewable energy - biomass, solar, wind,
geothermal and small hydro - can be accessed on
the site of the Center
(www.observatoriobrasil.org).
A demonstration area of renewable energy in
Western Paraná, to the international market, must
still be deployed on site.
Furthermore,
the UK also works to publicize the Electric
Vehicle Project of Itaipu, a company's effort to
research and develop-powered vehicles to electric
power as a way to minimize the effects of climate
change, seek energy efficiency and encourage the
use of renewable energies.
